Karak

🏰 Karak – The Crusader Stronghold of Jordan

“Stone walls, heroic battles, and sweeping views — Karak echoes the clash of empires.”

Karak (also spelled Al-Karak) is one of Jordan’s most historically significant cities, best known for its imposing Crusader-era castle. Perched dramatically on a hilltop more than 900 meters above sea level, Karak Castle once guarded important trade and pilgrimage routes between Damascus, Mecca, and Egypt.

The city itself is a lively, modern place with traditional souks, ancient churches, and a strong sense of local culture — offering a blend of medieval might and authentic Jordanian life.
